1. Who We Are
Longly is a dating and matchmaking application operated from India. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.
2. Information We Collect
When you use Longly, we collect:
- Account info: phone number, email (if provided), date of birth, gender, name
- Profile info: photos, bio, education, employment, lifestyle preferences, partner preferences
- Verification info: selfie photos for verification (not shown to other users)
- Location: approximate city, optionally GPS coordinates if you grant permission
- Usage info: which profiles you swipe, like, message, or report
- Device info: phone model, OS version, push token, IP address
- Biometric data: selfie photos are processed by on-device ML Kit and AWS Rekognition solely for identity verification; facial geometry is not stored after the verification check is complete
- Voice / audio: voice messages you send in chat are stored in Firebase Storage and accessible only to the intended recipient
- Contacts (hashed): if you use the "Hide from contacts" feature, your contacts' phone numbers are converted to one-way SHA-256 hashes on your device; raw contact numbers are never transmitted to our servers
- Payment info: subscription and in-app purchases on Android are processed by Google Play Billing; on iOS by Apple In-App Purchases; payments for real-world events and coach sessions are processed by Razorpay. We never store card numbers, UPI PINs, or bank credentials.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Match you with compatible profiles based on your preferences
- Surface people near you and at events you have indicated interest in
- Send notifications about matches, messages, and events
- Process subscription and in-app purchases via Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple In-App Purchases (iOS)
- Process payments for events and coach sessions via Razorpay
- Investigate reports and enforce community guidelines
- Improve the matching algorithm in aggregate
4. Who We Share Data With
We share limited data with the following processors:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, push notifications)
- Google Play Billing (subscription and in-app purchase processing on Android)
- Apple In-App Purchases (subscription and in-app purchase processing on iOS)
- Razorpay (payment processing for events and coach sessions)
- Amazon Web Services / AWS Rekognition (face-match verification — images are not retained after verification)
- Crashlytics and Analytics (crash reports and aggregate usage)
We never sell your personal information. We never share your exact location with other users, only the city.
5. Your Rights
- Edit your profile information at any time from Settings
- Delete your account from Settings. Your profile, matches, chats and photos are permanently deleted immediately and cannot be recovered.

- Lodge a grievance with our Grievance Officer at grievance@longly.in (India IT Rules 2021)
6. Age Requirement & Children's Privacy
Longly is exclusively for users 18 years and older. We verify date of birth at sign-up and reject any account that does not meet this requirement. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, email support@longly.in immediately and we will investigate and delete the account within 24 hours of verification.
7. Payment Data
Longly never receives or stores your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or net banking credentials. Payments are processed as follows:
- Android subscriptions & in-app purchases — processed by Google Play Billing. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy
- iOS subscriptions & in-app purchases — processed by Apple In-App Purchases. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy
- Events and coach sessions — processed by Razorpay, a RBI-regulated payment gateway. Razorpay's privacy policy applies: razorpay.com/privacy
We only receive a transaction reference, amount, and status from each processor.
8. Cookies and Tracking
The Longly website (longly.in) uses essential and analytics cookies. The mobile app does not use cookies but uses Firebase authentication tokens stored locally on your device. See our Cookie Policy for details.
9. Data Retention
- Active accounts: data retained as long as the account is active.
- Deleted accounts: personal data (profile, photos, chats, matches) is deleted immediately and irrecoverably upon account deletion. Aggregated analytics data (non-identifying) may be retained.
- Suspended/banned accounts: data retained for up to 180 days to prevent ban evasion and for potential regulatory or legal enquiries, then permanently deleted.
- Financial records: transaction records retained for 8 years as required by Indian tax law.
10. International Data Transfer
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers, which are primarily located in India (asia-south1 region) but may be processed in other Google data centres globally. By using Longly, you consent to this cross-border transfer. Google maintains data protection standards equivalent to India's DPDPA and GDPR.
11. Your Rights Under India's DPDPA
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your data (by deleting your account)
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing
- Nominate a person to exercise your rights in case of your death or incapacity
- File a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India if we fail to address your grievance
To exercise any of these rights, email grievance@longly.in. We respond within 15 days.
12. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS, TLS 1.3, Firebase security rules, server-side validation, selfie verification). However, no system is fully secure. Please report any concerns immediately to support@longly.in.
13. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and via email (if provided). Continued use of Longly after a material change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
